Taking Parental Leave
Video clip: Jennifer, who is an Athena SWAN advisor and facilitator, explained Oxford University’s parental leave entitlements.
I think I saw on the Internet that you’re doing, the job is for maternity, somebody is on maternity leave.
I’m interested, what is, I don’t know what the maternity leave is for the University now. Can people go off for a year?
They can do. So you get six months on full pay, then you can have three months on statutory pay and then three months on no pay. So you could be off for a year. The woman that I’m covering for I think will be taking seven months. So she’s due back in about a month’s time. But my contract was for twelve months, so we had two months overlap in the beginning and we’ll have a couple of months overlap at the end.
