Deciding on a career in science
Video clip: Anushka was keen to continue with research, alongside her clinical work, because it has the potential to shape clinical practice and change many people’s lives.
So what encouraged you to keep the academic side going rather than just become a rheumatologist?
I find it really interesting. I find I just, like the fact that you can perhaps be a bit more creative, you know, if you have an idea you’re allowed to sort of investigate it, expand on it, and also ultimately you have the potential to change a lot of people’s lives through doing research. Obviously it depends on what kind of research you end up doing but by helping to you know contribute to that process of understanding how something works and why something is the way it is, you, you can actually help shape clinical practice in a different way as well.
