Deciding on a career in science
Video clip: During her degree Anna spent a year doing research. It gave her a chance to experience a research environment. She found it exciting to generate her own data.
So yes I went to Surrey and did a BSc in medical biochemistry and during that time had a year working at Bart’s Hospital in London doing oncology research in the Barry Reed Oncology Laboratory. And that was really my first opportunity to understand what a research environment was like, having ownership of a project, getting excited about generating data and also writing up your data and presenting it. So that was probably one of the big important events that happened and pushed me down an academic career path.
