Disability Narratives
Financial Impact
Video clip: Kevin explains some of the worries he has about benefits and that they should make sure disabled people working part-time can survive on them.
At the moment, I think it does, but you have to be registered, you have to be disabled at a level where you get Disability Living Allowance, or Personal Independence Payment, and that's quite a high – especially with PIP is quite a high level. You may get someone who's just - who just misses getting PIP, still quite poorly.
Ways of helping people that can only work, you know, three or maybe four days a week, make sure that they can, make a living on that. Things like the national minimum wage, or living wage now. Generally I think that's quite a good idea. Tax credits should be tweaked, so that disabled people can, can do - can survive on three, three and a half days a week.
