Advice for people with a long-term conditions or disability
Video clip: Liz has found that she has had to be creative in adapting to “a world that no longer works for you”.
And, and anyone - you know - someone, you know - I am newly disabled, I'm, I’m only - only just over a year into this, and - and I am still trying to figure it out. So I'll spend the rest of my life trying to figure it out. But, but part of it is a creative response to a world that's no longer designed for you. I read that somewhere. A disabled person talking about - and she was someone who became disabled later in life, like me, saying that - you know - suddenly, you're having to, to adapt to a world that no longer works for you, that's no longer designed for you. And on the shitty days, that's really hard to deal with. And on the better days, it's like you're having to think creatively all the time. And my husband always says that we, we were creative thinkers anyway, because we had this ridiculously complex life. And so, you know, it's like - he's like, "We're good at thinking creatively, we can deal with this." So I kind of like that attitude.
