Video clip: Ruth explains that the University has many resources that can be drawn upon.

Personally, I wouldn't immediately jump to 'oh, we must use occupational health', because I don't want to medicalise it, necessarily. But sometimes you need to, and sometimes that's appropriate. And so I think we all like easy things to do, sometimes. But actually, disability isn't necessarily an easy thing. And so you have to look at each case separately, and see what's appropriate. And it may be that the health & safety officer, occupational health, personnel and manager all have to work together, to achieve something. And that's fine, but it requires more effort and coordination and, and thought.

Because RSI can be a disability, can't it. So the health & safety officer has got a whole range of different equipment that she keeps, and doesn't give to anyone on a permanent basis, but if somebody's got a problem she lends them something to try. And then we buy it, if they need it, or if they like it. And I think that helps confidence, in terms of she's got several different mice, and she'll say "Well have a go with these, and see which suits you best." And I think that helps people, so that they feel that they're not being a big bother, and we haven't spent a lot of money on something that they then don't want. That sort of thing.
